Don't be a Scrubber!!!

I can always remember when I was a little girl visiting the dentist for a check-up and the dentist asking if I scrubbed or brushed my teeth. Looking a bit puzzled I asked him "what's the difference"?

He explained that a gentle circular brushing motion is much better for my teeth and gums rather than a hard up and down scrub which would eventually scrub away the tooths enamel making my teeth more susceptible to stains and structural problems later in life!

Your skin isn't much different!

The skin has a protective outer layer called the Stratum Corneum that protects your skin from the elements (e.g UV, pollution, free radicals, etc). Using scrubs, chemical peels and other forms of exfoliation strips away this layer before its natural recycling process. This makes it much easier for the elements to penetrate the skin's layers causing accelerated ageing, pigmentation, dehydration, congestion and sensitivity 😳 with the longer term affects being much more severe 😱

If your dentist insisted on removing the outer layer of your teeth would you let them? This is basically what is happening to your skin with the latest crazes in skin resurfacing treatments such as microdermabrasion, dermaplaning and chemical peels. Instead I'd be looking for my dental expert to advise me on how I can strengthen my outer layer for the long term good 👍🏼

At Blomstra our ethos is to strengthen the barrier, not weaken it, and the only way to do this is with Vitamin A applied topically as well as ingested.

This ethos is shared with Environ and the Advanced Nutrition Programme who are both mad about Vitamin A just like us!

When the body has a high level of Vitamin A the skins protective barrier will be pretty much bulletproof, keeping all the bad stuff out and locking the good stuff in - making you look younger, healthier and full of life!

So what was my reply to my dentist all those years ago? Well I was a scrubber then but not anymore...
